What are soft sole shoes?
Soft Sole shoes are generally made from leather with a soft suede sole generally one layer thick for new babies and increase slightly in thickness as your child grows. Some soft sole shoes have rubber inserts sown into the sole to enable a better grip as your child learns to walk and act as a cushioning for more solid use. They are basically a trendy slipper type shoe for your child that helps them to get use to wearing shoes and can be very handy for keeping socks on their feet! Our range has been designed to see your child through their first couple of years with a soft slipper range for the new baby followed by a more sturdier range to see them through their big adventures.
Why are soft soled shoes best for new babies?
Soft sole shoes are recommended by podiatrists and professionals world wide as they allow a baby's foot to develop naturally because they do not restrict flexibility or growth. A soft sole enables a baby to still feel the ground underneath them as they learn to walk and balance. Solid rubber soled shoes can be bulky and babies can trip over or lose confidence in walking as they can become unsure. Rileyroos have incorporated a soft sole with a rubber sole as well as a rounded toe to meet all needs.
Why are Leather shoes better than other materials?
Being a naturally derived product, shoes made from leather allow the foot to breathe and leather also softens with wear moulding to the foot for extra comfort. The more you wear leather shoes, the better they become.
I am unsure what size to buy, how do I decide?
Our website features detailed sizing charts and measuring recommendations of our brands to help with this (refer to the 'Specifications' tab in the product description). We suggest if you are torn between two sizes, that you choose the larger of the two as your child's foot grows fast and they will grow into the shoe. When measuring, it is recommended to add approx. 1/2cm (0.5cm) to your measurement to allow for wiggle room and growth.
Are the shoes on your site safe for my child?
Yes, all our products meet Australian and International standards and are constructed by child-safe materials.
